Ports of Call Resort Staff Says Thank You
Through 125 donors, we raised a total of $20,370 USD. As owners we have matched the donations to allow a total of over $40,000 to be used to purchase building materials for the rebuilding of the staff’s damaged homes and for the replacement of staff clothing, TV’s, couches, fridges, stoves, dressers and beds that were lost in the hurricane.
We also made the decision to keep all of our staff on full payroll for the ten weeks we are closed for repairs to ensure the staff had sufficient cash flow.
The first shipment of items arrived on island late last week and was distributed to the staff on Saturday (see attached photo).
Another shipment is expected to arrive on island on November 5th.
The power is restored throughout the island and staff who have been living with their families at the resort for the past month are now able to return home to their way of life. Most of the schools have now re-opened.
Five weeks after Irma and three weeks after Maria, the island is almost back to pre-hurricane conditions. Foliage is growing back, the flowers are starting to bloom, the wonderful beaches are as beautiful as ever and more than half the resorts and restaurants have re-opened with more continuing to open each week.
Ports of Call is almost ready to re-open but we are scheduling our full re-opening for November 25th in order to allow us the opportunity to complete some room refurbishing while we await the completion of our new roof.
Whether you have been to Ports of Call Resort and seen first-hand how much our staff devotes their time and attention to maximizing the guests experience, you have read our great online reviews or perhaps you simply found it in the good of your heart to donate, the entire team at Ports of Call says thank you from the bottom of their hearts and look forward to welcoming you back to our piece of paradise!
We hope to see you soon!
Cheers,
Ports of Call Resort Staff and Management
