A Divers Best Value Accommodation
Researching for your next dive adventure? Some of the things you have to consider include where to go, are you traveling with a group or by yourself, which company to dive with and of course, where to stay. Lucky for you, we are here to help and give you insight on the best-value dive trip!
Where to go
Do consider Turks & Caicos as a destination. This relatively undiscovered country is home to the third largest barrier reef system in the world and several of the world’s top dive sites. TCI has warm weather, clear water, white sand beaches and is made up of over 40 islands and cays with just 8 being inhabited. The Turks and the Caicos Islands are separated by a 35-kilometre/22-mile-wide channel called the Columbus Passage which is a water highway for migrating fish, rays, turtles, dolphins and humpback whales.
The island of Providenciales, known as Provo, brings in the most tourists annually and is best known for its awe-inspiring Grace Bay Beach which has been voted consecutively as the world’s best beach. Provo has the advantage of being within access to over 70 miles (112km) of barrier reefs and walls providing homes to a variety of marine life and coral reefs. Popular dive sites off these shores include North West Point, West Caicos, Grace Bay, French Cay, Sandbore Channel and Salt Cay. Aquatic life that you can expect to see on your venture include but are not limited to soft corals, schools of barracuda, blue tangs and reef sharks, horse-eye jacks, lobster, crabs, angelfish, grunts, snappers, groupers, barracuda, turtles, eagle rays, nurse sharks, moray eels, manta rays, hammerheads and humpback whales. You will also see a number of walls starting anywhere from 30 feet and dropping down to 6,000 feet. On the walls you can find barrel sponges, stag horn corals and the occasional giant orange elephant ear sponge. If diving in Salt Cay, you may come across the wreck of a British warship.

SAFETY
Turks & Caicos is known to be one of the safest Caribbean destinations so this should not be a threat if you are looking to travel alone.
COST
A majority of the hotels base their rates on single or double occupancy so adding a roommate would no doubt save money on your accommodation.
SOCIAL
Think for a minute – after a long day of diving do you want down time to yourself or would you like someone there to keep you company?
Dive Company
If you are looking for great rates, friendly, professional and educated staff, high-quality dive locations, as well as clean and modern equipment, then I highly recommend Dive Provo. This company is the island’s number one dive shop catering to all level divers. The shop is conveniently located on property in the Shops of Ports of Call making it easy for pick-up, drop-off and organizing.
Not a diver? Dive Provo can make you one! An introductory course is the perfect way to explore of the amazing sport of scuba diving and can be completed in our very own pool.
“Five days of diving with Dive Provo was the best experience to date. They arranged our 7-day stay at Ports of Call and all the diving. I’m a more advanced diver almost completing divemaster certification. They skillfully took out all ability levels on the same boat and provided the appropriate dive experience at every level. Divemasters and captains were all friendly, experienced and knowledgeable. Safety always came first. The folks in the dive shop were extremely helpful and accommodating as well. I’ve dove many places in the Caribbean and this was as good as I’ve found anywhere” – Mark L (TripAdvisor).

The pool was very nice and offered relaxing naps with umbrellas after doing a day of diving. Dive Provo is conveniently located right across the street. The breakfast that they offer was very good. It included: hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit, delicious coffee and water – available all day long, croissants, toast, yogurt. The location is also convenient to downtown and the beach”
